My dad was just here a few weeks back and I have to say that 2 weeks was quite fast. He came home for Chinese New Year, and to spend some down time with his favorite apo (hehehe joke) and the rest of our family. We were contemplating where to go and after 2 days of looking for places, I told my fam “Luljetta’s nalang” — it’s kinda near the city, yet you feel like you’re isolated from the world. There’s a spa, pools and a scenic view. What more can you ask for right? Plus gusto ko kasi makasama rin si Bobby and Yñigo without them feeling too stressed (Bobby’s taking up classes pa eh tapos sabay nito). I called them up, made a reservation for their Family Villa, and next thing we knew, we were on our way.
Before going to the hanging gardens spa, we stopped by Antipolo Church so that my parents can pay tribute to the Our Lady of Good Voyage and so that we could pray. To be frank, I haven’t been inside a church for so long, but there was a overwhelming kind of feeling that took over when I saw Yñigo saying “Diyos” while pointing at the cross. Before heading over Luljetta, my dad and I made a quick trip to the local market and bought yummy coco jam, suman, and gummy worms. SUMAN + COCO JAM = PERFECTION.
Luljetta’s Hanging Gardens & Spa is around 20 minutes from Antipolo Church, and 1-2 hours from Manila depending on the traffic. It’s actually inside Loreland Farm Resorts tucked in the quiet barangay of San Roque. For those who don’t know, Luljetta’s was one of the first (and I think it still only is) hanging gardens spa in the Philippines. Correct me if I’m wrong. It has a commanding and picturesque view of Laguna de Bay & the Manila skyline. At night, you’ll just see how fucking awesome the view is. Walking through it’s facilities, you’ll be greeted with the fresh air, bamboo aroma, the sound of water rushing, birds chirping and cool breeze keeping you cozy and relaxed.
We checked ourselves in at the Luljetta’s Bed & Breakfast, which is actually separate from the spa. The room we got was the Family Suite Room which is:
- two-story suite
- 1 queen size bed on one room (1st floor)
- 2 double sized beds (2nd floor)
- inclusive of five (5) pax breakfast at Verde Restaurante
- access to Loreland Farm Resorts
- 5-hr access to Luljetta’s Hanging Gardens Spa
- P 12,450 / night on weekdays; P 14,150 / night on weekends
Spent the whole day munching on food, swimming with my sisters, Bobby and Yñigo. Maalat lang siguro dahil umulan and Ynigo can’t take that long in the cold so umahon na rin kami. But just to give you a preview of what to expect when you go there, let me give you a visual tour of the place:
The amenities included a jacuzzi (my dad’s favorite thing there), sauna, fish spas pocket gardens, hydromassage pools, and an infinity pool overlooking Manila & Laguna de Bay! Just prepare yourselves with lots of stairs. You’ll be going up and down, especially when you want to try all the facilities there.
What I really loved about the whole place is the fact it was filled with Pinoy touches. You can see it in how the cabanas where made, the synthetic rattan furniture made by Pampanga craftsmen, wooden chairs / tables from Palawan, masonry from Pangasinan workers, flowering plants from Baguio, abaca droplights from Bicol, and soothing daybeds from Ilocos. Every detail matters. It’s those quaint details that makes this place feel a little extra like home. Bobby & I are big fans of locally made items as each one is never truly made the same way, most are made by hand… but you know all are made with love. If we can only go around the Philippines and start collecting timeless pieces for our dream home, I would. Luljetta’s has a lot of things that makes me feel like it was our home, at least for the two days we stayed there.
Another thing we loved was that Bobby & I got the BEST. FUCKING. MASSAGE. EVER. I shit you not…. Bobby & I are big fans of massages and we usually get them 1-2 times a month. It’s been a while since we had… and when you’re really busy raising a kid, walking up and down Antipolo, and the accumulated stress your body gets from tons of work and driving in traffic, all you want to do is treat yourself with a massage. Intense. The pressure was just right and I love how they knew the right parts to focus on. We got the Signature Luljetta’s Massage but we plan on coming back one day to try the others.
Yñigo had so much fun being in his element (he loves water and nature). I mean, you can see how happy he was just running around, exploring with his senses, reaching places he’s all too new with, and being one with Mother Earth. I’ve always been an advocate of allowing your children to wander and let their senses take them where they want to be at (with the parents’ guidance of course). He discovered the sounds of fireflies, what it felt like when fish try to munch on your feet, and saw the cityscape from above.
So, if you are in need of a quick escape from the bustling city, then go here. I swear, it is worth the drive up.
