Back in January, I had the privilege to be part of the hardworking team that brought the ItsJudyTime Manila Meet Up to life! For those who don’t know, Judy Travis started her YouTube Channel “It’s Judy Time” in 2008 where she would video blog and share her love for make-up, share hair tutorials, plus give her “first impressions” on new beauty products. What’s really solid about her is her ability to keep things raw… keep things real. I guess as one of the key person who pioneered blogging probably in the world, she was able to identify her voice — her relatability and honesty is what make people tune in to her channel… but more than that, her genuine aura is what makes her so lovable.
In 2012, She began been doing daily videos together with her husband Benji and their three three daughters: Julianna, Miya & Keira on her channel “It’s Judy’s Life” —- sharing a little bit of their family’s life each day with their growing audience. Now, I can’t say I’ve been a long time fam but I remember a good friend of mine telling me, “RJ, you know, Judy Travis should be your peg of life. Her videos are amazing… and there are only a few moms who successfully vlog here in the PH.”
As I watched her videos, I knew I wanted to do something close to what she was already achieve pero ang hirap. I didn’t… scratch that…. I still don’t have the proper gear for vlogging. I always wandered what camera Judy & Benji use for their vlogs hehe….
Since becoming a mom and having these various channels, Judy has continuously inspired & taught moms like me how to balance. Imagine, she learned how to balance playtime with my girls, finding some much needed mommy time to spruce up & play with some makeup when she can, and she religiously vlogs and edits every single night. Also, she and Benji get to find time together apart from what keeps them busy! Then just this January, she launched her Pixi + ItsJudyTime Eyeshadow and Lipstick palettes. Her palettes are designed for moms’, beauty enthusiasts, and those who are always on-the-go. These simple, everyday & compact palettes include the perfect balance of all of the colors you’d need to not only get you out the door quickly if you’re busy like Judy, but can even get you glammed out for the night! All in one na sya, and nakakatuwa talaga.
At the Samsung Hall, SM Aura Premier, she launched her palette through an exclusive meet & greet with her fans in the Philippines. She opened this special event to publicly talk about her palette collaboration for the first time, and even brought the whole gang with her on stage. Sadly, I wasn’t able to tune in for her short talk on her palette (nasa may media area ako trying to wait for other bloggers to arrive), but I did watch her vlogs where she explained the inspirations behind it.
After the meet & greet was over, I rushed to Todds English Food Hall to welcome the beauty & mom bloggers for an exclusive dinner party with Judy, Benji and the Three Bears!! To actually see them up close, talk to them personally and be part of this once in a life time experience is something I’ll always be grateful for. I was actually shy to go up and ask for a photo with THE Judy Travis…. but she really is how she is on and off-cam. She’s so open, welcoming and a sweetheart. I even had to ask for another photo since the first one I had with her was blurry.
Here’s some of the ladies who went to the after-party. We’re all the moms in attendance…. cool, right?
Before I end this entry, I want to talk about what I admired and learned after the #IJTManilaMeetUp. I can’t really talk about her palettes since I wasn’t able to purchase or get any haha. But I have a few insights from that fateful day:
- The Pixi x ItsJudyTime Palette is your one-stop make-up essential for any look of the day. Reading my friends’ posts, and watching some reviews online has convinced me to get one for myself…. one day when it can fit ze budget. The ItsLipTime and ItsEyetime contain 12 lipcolors and eyeshadows in very wearable and flattering hues. Something to take you from day to night, from simple to glam in a flash! Define and enhance your features with this portable palette with wearable, blendable shades for any occasion. Funny thing — whenever may break time kami from the ticket redemption area, I would just study how these palettes look like on me… Trying to see if bagay or hindi, pero syempre di ko naman binuksan diba. HAHA.
- People can be so crazy around their idols. Intense talaga. Creative Juice, the logistics behind the meet & greet had to hire so many security to make sure that the whole family was safe from the mob of people outside Samsung Hall. May iba nga tinatry pumasok but I’m so proud of the system we had that day…. (hi Sir Gary & Sonia hehe).
- You can always achieve your dreams, no matter how unreal or unbelievable they are. I guess as my day as a staff was going by, I couldn’t help but think what Judy is feeling with all of this. Is she overwhelmed by the warm greetings her Filipino fans are giving? Is she thinking to herself “How did I get to where I am now?”, or is she just going with wherever life takes her?? Another fun fact — this whole event was to benefit one of the charities she holds close to her heart. You know it isn’t the money that she’s after for eh… and that’s so admirable of her. She just really wants to tap into what she’s good at and use that to help those who need it. Modern day saint? Not really, ’cause shouldn’t that be the very core of human existence? To better ourselves and serve our higher purpose? This was hers, probably. And I’m thankful she’s on this path.
- When you’re faced with a big time Youtube celebrity, you will forget how to speak in English. I always slur whenever I get starstruck in front of someone who’s (1) an idol, (2) a celebrity, (3) a genuinely kind person. Swear, pag masyado mabait yung tao, di ako makagalaw. Parang hiyang-hiya ako sa harap ng taong ‘to kasi puro kabaitan lang ang puso niya. Well, Judy and her family was all of these descriptions… at least for me. Tandaan: Wag ‘kabahan kapag nasa harap ng idol mo…. be yourself and connect.
I guess that’s it. Below is the moment in my life that will be immortalized. Thank you, of course, to the Travises for bringing so much GV to my life. I will never forget that. Hopefully, my boy gets to meet your girls one day…. *praying right now*
The event is co-presented by SM Aura Premier, PLDT Home and Vicks Vaporub. It is also supported by Girl Stuff, McDonald’s, Pampers Dry Pants and Havaianas. Official video partner for this event is Little Big Day by Jason Magbanua. But most of all, I want to thank Mommy Mundo for this opportunity and for making one of my dreams come true. Woot woot! I love you all and I never thought I’d be blessed with the best teammates ever!
